The Raider Team leader is appointed by the Battalion Commander and approved by the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) and the Army Instructor(s) (AI). The leader will be permitted to appoint one or two assistants approved by the SAI and AI.

Raiders meet from 1500 hours until 1630 hours (3:00 - 4:30 pm). Some of the requirements of a Raider team consist of 5 males and three females, or eight males or eight females. To perform at regulation standards, each Raider must be physically fit, certified in First Aid and CPR, and knowledgeable in Land Navigation. The Lancer Battalion Raider Team participates in the state-level raider competitions during the spring school year, which provides a wealth of experience.
